Freenergy Solar Solutions is a locally owned and operated supplier and installer of solar energy systems in Hawkes Bay. We specialise in all things solar, installation and maintenance of residential and commercial solar, energy storage systems and off grid power systems.

Our business has a strong market share in HB and the industry is in an exciting growth stage. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, our point of difference is our product knowledge, and we handle everything in house, sales, design & installation, controlling the quality to the end user.

Electrician - Solar Installation Team Lead

Are you a skilled electrician ready to make your mark on the world of renewable energy?

We're seeking a motivated person to join our dynamic, National Award-winning installation team to transform our sustainable future.

Our 15 year old solar business offers an in house design and technical support team, you'll master the art of solar installation, maintenance, and beyond. You won’t get bored on our projects including residential, commercial and some exciting off grid and resilience projects in some amazing locations.

To join our team, the ideal candidate should:

  •  Be legally eligible to work in New Zealand with a valid work permit or residency status. 

  • Have a current Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) registration. 

  • Have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites as needed. 

  • Possess strong technical knowledge and expertise in electrical work, with a demonstrated history of completing projects with precision and attention to detail. 

  • Be a highly effective communicator who can collaborate with others and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during installations.

  •  Be a self-motivated individual with a positive, can-do attitude and a passion for continuous learning and growth. 

  • Solar experience is optimal, however in house training with our experienced team will be provided.

Solar Sales Technician

To be successful in this role it is essential that you can build and maintain strong working relationships. You will be driven and self-motivated and you will be highly capable of working independently when managing existing and prospecting for new business opportunities.

You will initially be trained to service our residential sales enquiries with a career path to larger commercial solar sales following a training period.

The ideal candidate will be highly professional when dealing with sales and customer enquiries. You will have a high level of personal and professional integrity that reflects well on the reputation of the business. You will also be very capable of using your initiative and working with the wider team to develop the best solutions for customers. It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent customer service skills, follows up, and understands the importance of building strong customer relationships to build trust, sales, repeat business, and referrals.

The successful candidate will be able to quickly absorb product knowledge, be able to understand technical information; and have the communication skills necessary to communicate this information and the benefits to non-technical people verbally, in writing, and in person.

You must be comfortable with heights as the role will involve measuring roof area for panel locations.

Prior sales or solar experience is not essential an understanding of basic electrical and mechanical knowledge is an advantage, but not essential. A can do, solution based attitude is essential. Full training is supplied in house.

This exciting opportunity involves everything from sales and customer service, preparing quotations and reporting/analysis, to managing enquiries, complaints, and the occasional home show.

You will require:

  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa

  • Current full drivers licence

  • Competent use of office technology including the Microsoft Office suite

  • Competent at using relevant office and field technology, software, mobile phones etc.

  • The ability to use your initiative to problem solve

  • Enthusiasm to grow with the business.

Solar Support Engineer Role

The role involves the pre and post installation support of residential and commercial solar and energy storage systems. This includes completing all sales support, system design in helioscope software and technical hardware selection, working with minimal supervision, complying with quality, electrical & safety standards.

You will be part of a busy office environment with an admin and sales team.

You will require:
• NZ Residency or Work Permit
• Current Drivers Licence or ability to travel to Links Road daily
• Good communication skills with a can-do attitude
• Enthusiasm to grow with the business

Skills, knowledge & attributes required:

  • Solar power system design experience

  • Knowledge & experience of relevant methods and materials for solar installation

  • Skills in the interpretation of drawings, plans, and the understanding of specifications

  • Demonstrated commitment and tenacity to achieve results 

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety obligations and is safety conscious

  • Proven time management skills

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to work well as a member of a team

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritise effectively

  • Flexible and adaptable work ethic

  • Positive outlook

You will be hard-working and able to problem solve on the spot to ensure the efficient running of all jobs.You will require:

Solar Installation Technician Assistant

If a career in the solar industry is on your wish list, we look forward to hearing from you. We are looking for an enthusiastic, mature trade assistant to work with and report to our installation lead electrician. You will take responsibility for assisting install electricians with all types of solar installations including roof work and electrical assistance. The role requires working at heights and heavy lifting, so a good level of fitness is required.

Full training will be offered on site and the right candidate may lead to apprenticeship opportunities. Health and safety is an important part of our culture and you will be provided training for working at heights.

The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Assist with install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics and instructions

  • Routine system maintenance

  • Maintaining warehouse cleanliness & stock levels

  • Picking and packing upcoming jobs

You must be a good communicator and able to fit into a strong team culture and build relationships.
